site plan |
The project of Ewha Middle School contains difficult architectural problems. The north part of site is restricted to construct under second stories due to the civil appeal of the residents and the west side is noisy due to railway. There is a different level of site over 10m and the entrance to the school concentrates on one direction because of the planned road of 8m. Therefore it is arranged to attract the external circulation naturally to the inside of the building after deciding the entrance for walker and traffic reasonably. It arranges the playground to the west part of school and adapts soundproofing landscape to solve such problems. It gives difference of level to the playground and building to adopt itself to the existing geographical features. Therefore it solves the problem of economical burden harmonizing with surroundings.
Main Perpsective Of School |
It uses the planned road of 8m to solve the approach to the site. It arranges the sports center in the end and parking lot on that frist floor to separate the circulation of walker fromthat of traffic. It leads the circulation of walkers using an external wall of sports center and tree colonnade. The entrance plaza connects the classroom building, administration building and playground organically as a transition space. There is a courtyard surrounded by the classroom building through supporting' and administration building connected with after an entrance plaza. It establishes a static space according to the playground and entrance axis.
